In Evony it is entirely possible to run a 100% tax rate.  This means your population will constantly dwindle because your loyalty will be going down.  As your loyalty goes down so does your population and eventually your town will revolt.

However you can use comforting to increase your loyalty or increase your population. Since you can perform comforting every 15 minutes you can maintain your population level/loyalty.  However if you forget to use comforting or if you are going to be offline for awhile (maybe to go to work, school, your job, or just to take a break from Evony) then you stand a chance that you’ll log back in to find your army deserted you and your towns people are revolting.

So why would you want to run a 100% tax rate? This tax rate allows you to maximize the revenue you make from your towns people.  The gold can help you hire high level heroes, buy resources, or research in the academy.  Since things like “construction” or “archery” are key research items the sooner you can advance those skills the better.  Some players like to run the risk and run a high tax level at first.  These are players that can be online for 4 to 8 to 12 hours at a time.  They can constantly use comforting every 15 minutes to raise their loyalty/population.

Just keep in mind if you try this method to be sure to reset your tax rate to 50% or 30% when you log off. Otherwise you may login to find you have very little if any loyalty and your townspeople will be trying to start a revolt against you.  I had that happen and it isn’t pretty 😉

So at what Loyalty level will an actual revolt take place? 10? 5? 0?

When loyalty reaches 0. So long as you manage to log in before that, you’ll be fine.

However, this trick does not work anymore, especially on older servers where food has become expensive. To keep loyalty at 100%, you need to do disaster relief every 30 minutes. This means if food costs more than 0.5 gold, doing this will result in a negative return. If it’s slightly below 0.5, you’ll still be better off simply setting tax to 25% and leaving it there.

When I did this last year, food was at 0.03. I built up a population of over 100k with just 2 cities, and was getting over 2M gold in tax every day. Which I thought was a lot.

But after playing for months, I’ve realized that that is just silly. A large player could farm NPC10. With 10 cities, each sending out 9 raids, he could get about 1 to 2 billion food + other stuff, on each raid. Do it 3 times a day, and you’re getting over 5 billion food a day!

So the best way today is to simply join an alliance, participate in the chat, and ask the bigger players for resources. :) I regularly give out 10M to 20M of each resource to anyone who asks (10M gold + 10M food + 10M lumber + 10M stone + 10M iron to each person). Because when you compare that to the quantity produced by farming NPC10s, it hardly makes a difference. I could give out a couple of hundred million each day and not feel the pinch.

What??? 100% loyalty? What if you want to actually have some population? All you do is sell 10 mil food for gold, and set tax to 0. Keep selling until you get about 600 mil gold. You get more population for troops, and a ton of gold.

Don’t sweat it. Use your army to raid nearby NPC’s, lakes, or grasslands for food.

If you already have little enough food that you cant send out your men then they will probably start leaving on their own. You will just have to build up your farms until your production meets the dwindling demand.
