Ok, I have not been able to test this since I have not been colonized lately
I have heard that it works so let me know what you find.
Once you are “colonized” there will be an eight hour suppression period. During this time you can have your allies’ mass troops and you can build up your own army. Once this time is up there will be a fight between the attacker’s troops and your own. If you win you are free and if you lose you become a colony under the attacker, your suzerain.
So obviously you want to win the fight, right? Well if you get your allies to reinforce you, you may take losses but win in the end. I’d rather not take any losses. So here’s the trick: go to your Embassy and you will see where troops are garrisoned in your city. You will see your attacker’s troops. You simply have to dismiss them.
The catch is that if you do this right away and your suppressor notices they will simply reinforce and hope you don’t notice. The key is timing. You have to wait until the last minute so that your suppressor doesn’t have time to reinforce. When suppression ends and the stabilization battle takes place your enemy will have no troops in your city and you will win as a result.
Give it a try and let me know how it works for you!

this works great…..i have done it and it works
does this work for age 2?
I first heard about it working in Age 2.
I did this once purely by accident, thinking I was dismissing some troops an ally had sent to reinforce me and then I realized they were from the guy attacking me. It worked that once time, but the second time I was attacked they didn’t show up. So they make have fixed it or it just might be a bug that haqppens if you get lucky.
Ummm, so since AgeI doesn’t support colonization, I’m going to go waaaaaaaay out on a branch here and say this only works in AgeII
What if there are no troops and you are still under policy for draft and suppression. I am paying tributes with no enemy garrison????
i think this has been fixed. i’m under suppression, and have not had the enemy troops listed anywhere. to make matters worse, my embassy list is empty, and i can’t teleport my city out of colonization because it says i have to send back allied troops garrisoned in my city. except there are none, and is why i needed to teleport. so i’m just sitting here, waiting to get colonized because my alliance didn’t come to my rescue…
oi just started playing age2 last week and have already been colonized. i had my lvl 3 embassy reinforced with my alliance member’s troops and did not have any spaces for attacker to garrison. he colonized me and took most of my resources and killed most of my troops. i did heal some but lost most. i am in the process of uprising for the 2nd time but even if there is no room for attacker to garrison he can still beat you. im n ot learned enuff to say why or how but i was colonized without attacker’s troops in my city
Both my cities have been colonized while I was offline. I have started uprising and some alliance members have sent RI. If the alliance RI troops cant help .. then the whole concept of colonization is a peace of crap. The commission quest thing is a complete money grab pure and simple. I am very close to quitting completely ATM.
This trick only works before the “stabilization battle” once you are colonized it is to late. This will also not help you if you are trying an uprising. This must be done during the 8hr suppression period just before the “stabilization battle”.
(Edited from the previous comment)
This has been fixed and the trick does not work.
I was under suppression yesterday and saw no enemy troops garrisoned in my town by checking my embassy. I checked again a few seconds before the end of suppression just to make sure and had plenty of troops in my town to win the battle with the gates open, but lost and he became my suzzerain. So obviously he had troops there that did not appear in my embassy.
Hasn’t worked for me in Age 2. Troops do not show up in embassy.
